Description of experiment
Below follows a plain text transcript of the selected
experiment.
Needed compounds: ----------------- potassium tetrathionate : K2S4O6 copper sulfate penta hydrate : CuSO4 . 5H2O
Class: ------ elem=S,Cu coordination
Summary: -------- Copper(II) ions form no complex with tetrathionate ion and there also is no formation of a precipitate. Even boiling does not cause a visible change.
Description: ------------ Prepare a solution of copper sulfate and a solution of potassium tetrathionate and add the solutions to each other: No visible reaction occurs.
Heat the light blue liquid and keep the liquid boiling for a few minutes: No visble changes occur. The liquid remains clear and light blue.
