Description of experiment
Below follows a plain text transcript of the selected
experiment.
Needed compounds: ----------------- sodium bicarbonate : NaHCO3 silver nitrate : AgNO3
Class: ------ elem=Ag,C precipitation
Summary: -------- Silver (I) forms a yellow precipitate with bicarbonate, probably by precipitating carbonate ions and driving off carbon dioxide.
Description: ------------ Add a solution of silver nitrate to a solution of sodium bicarbonate: Formation of a light yellow precipitate and formation of a small amount of a colorless gas (this probably is CO2). After 10 minutes the precipitate has become brighter, it has a stronger yellow color, resembling the color of sulphur.
