Summary: -------- Silver nitrite is only sparingly soluble in water. When dilute acid is added, the compound is destroyed again.
Description: ------------ Add a solution of silver nitrate to a solution of sodium nitrite: Formation of a dirty white (very pale yellow) precipitate.
Add some dilute sulphuric acid (appr. 1 mol/l): The precipitate dissolves.
