Description of experiment
Below follows a plain text transcript of the selected
experiment.
Needed compounds: ----------------- sodium hydroxide : NaOH sodium persulfate : Na2S2O8 lead nitrate : Pb(NO3)2
Class: ------ elem=Pb,O precipitate redox
Summary: -------- Lead builds a yellow precipitate with hydroxide and peroxosulfate. This probably is an oxidation product of lead (II).
Description: ------------ Add some solid Na2S2O8 to a solution of Pb(NO3)2: A white precipitate is formed (this may be lead sulfate, which may be due to impurities in the peroxosulfate).
Add some solid NaOH: The solid dissolves and a yellow/ochre precipitate is formed.
