Zirconium has properties, fairly close to titanium, but it is even less reactive. Its appearance is very similar to the appearance of titanium. The sample, shown here is approximately 3 grams of zirconium metal of 99.8% purity. It is a sintered sample and it looks somewhat dull.

Zirconium can also be crystalline. In that case, it has a beautiful shiny appearance. Below, a polycrystalline sample of zirconium is shown, together with the small sintered sample. The crystalline sample has a weight of approximately 80 grams and has a purity of 99.9% and a maximum hafnium content of 400 ppm.
