This is a sample of almost 5 grams of strontium metal, immersed in mineral oil. Strontium is a very reactive metal and even in oil, it slowly becomes oxidized, making its appearance grey or dark grey. Below, a more detailed picture is shown, which nicely shows the dendritic structure of the metallic strontium. The sample has a purity of better than 98%.
