A sample of very pure (99.99%) germanium. Germanium resembles silicon, but its color is more silver-like and has no blue hue. The sample, shown here, has a size of approximately 2.5 cm and its weight is almost 10 grams.

The sample is somewhat tarnished, but in the middle of the sample, one can clearly see a freshly exposed area and that nicely demonstrates the true color of germanium: metallic, grey.
