Erbium is a fairly reactive metal, which has a grey and somewhat silvery lustre. The picture, given above shows the metal, stored under ligroin (100 - 140). The vial, in which the metal is stored has a total volume of 50 ml.

Below, two detailed pictures of the sample are given, one while the sample was laying on the bottom of the vial, the other, while the sample was placed at its thin side, resting against the glass of the vial.
