This is a sample of 9 grams of praseodymium metal. The left piece of metal has a longest diameter of approximately 15 mm and the right piece of metal has a longest diameter of approximately 12 mm. The pieces of metal are strongly oxidized and that is what makes the metal look so black. The picture above shows the right sample at most detail, the picture below shows the left sample at more detail.

The right sample of the metal also shows some green spots at the bottom right. These green spots are due to formation of praseodymium oxide, Pr₂O₃, which is a light green compound.
