Gallium  -  Ga

This is a sample of approximately 45 grams of ultrapure gallium (99.9999%). This sample nicely shows how shiny the metal can be. The fabric, on which the half-sphere is put is nicely reflected by the metal. The reflections of light from the half-sphere also show that the metal itself has a slightly blue color.

A remarkable property of gallium is its low melting point, but also its extreme ability to wet other objects. It sticks to the glass, making a mirror, consisting of a very thin layer of gallium metal.
